Day 17

f5.6
I know this isn't the greatest photo but anytime I get one where he's looking at me and smiling - it's reason to celebrate! I keep wondering what I could do to get him to LOOK AT ME! If you figure out something that works w/ your little ones...let me know!

Day 16

f22
The sun is directly behind the trunk of the tree in the middle.  I reduced my aperture as much as I could to get the most detail but still wasn't able to get as much as detail as I wanted (probably due to the bright light) Any thoughts or suggestions on how I could get more detail in the trees???

Day 12

f5.6

Day 11

Inspired by Amy last night here are my rocks! For the next 2 weeks I'm going to ONLY use the Av setting.  This was taken at f5.6.  You can tell exactly where I focused.  Everything in front and everything behind is blury

Day 4 (part 2)

I thought it might be advantageous to show you the problem I was having last night. The room was pretty dark.  I left a light on in the kitchen behind me to keep the room from being totally dark.  The shutter speed was slow (maybe 3 seconds) so when I took the picture a tiny bit of light entered through the eyepiece.  Can you see the small light spots across the top of the picture?  That's the light entering the eyepiece!

Day 4

I have been taking pictures for hours and this is the best I could come up with. Grrrr....
It wasn't a total loss because I did learned a lot! Specifically, when you take a picture in a darker room with limited light -- cover your eye piece! (remember the electrical tape trick Jared mentioned) Earlier I tried to take a picture of a burning candle. I took maybe 25 shots. I kept getting light colored dots in the pictures and I could not get them to go away.  I was seriously ready to throw the camera across the room! Piece of &*$#&!  Jared stepped in and  *reminded* me that I needed to cover my eye piece! :)

Day 3

Nothing fancy.  Can you believe they're coming up? I first noticed them the week of Christmas! Maybe it means we're in for an early spring and long summer! :)

Day 2

I added a tiny vignette around the corners.  Is that cheating? ;)  I reduced the saturation to reduce the yellow-ish tint because once again I took this indoors at night!

Day 1

I learned something today.  When taking pictures indoors at night, I prefer to go b/w to avoid the yellow-ish color caused by artificial light.  I bumped up the contrast and sharpness a notch to get a clearer more crisp picture. Unfortunately, you can see my reflection in the glass.  I tried it with the zoom to avoid the reflection but their wasn't enough light to use the monster zoom.
